How Zoom Whitening Works

How Zoom Whitening Works

Stains on the teeth can occur due to the foods and drinks we consume, such as berries, pasta sauce, tea, and coffee, as well as the lifestyle choices we make, such as smoking and chewing tobacco. Fortunately, there are several different types of teeth whitening treatments that can be used to get your teeth bright and white again.

One of these whitening treatments is called Zoom. Zoom whitening is a safe teeth bleaching process used across the country. During a consultation appointment, our expert will examine your teeth and oral health to ensure that whitening is the right choice for you.

The complete Zoom process typically takes less than an hour. Your dentist will cover your gums and lips to be sure they are not affected by the intense materials used. They will then apply the Zoom hydrogen peroxide gel. The abrasive properties in this gel will be activated by the Zoom chair-side light to break down and eliminate stains and discoloration. The light will stay on for three segments of fifteen minutes for a total of forty-five minutes. After this process is completed and the gel removed, your dentist will apply a fluoride paste-gel that will help reduce tooth sensitivity, which often occurs after whitening treatments.

Your aftercare treatment is very important. You will be given a kit to take home with materials to help you touch up your smile in areas you notice need a bite more whitening. It is best to avoid staining substances at this time to ensure the effects of the treatment are long-lasting.
